Cosmetic Dentistry

More Sub Categories under this Section:

Cosmetic Dentistry covers a large arena of procedures whose sole intentions are to make the teeth look healthier and cleaner. While in general, most cosmetic dentistry procedures are focused on creating healthy and white smiles, a recent trend has also brought forth capping and crowns for teeth. These caps and crowns are usually gold or platinum, but some still get the silver caps.

The ultimate goal for the majority of cosmetic dentistry procedures is to combine both art and science as a means to improve one’s dental health, while at the same time, improving the aesthetics and functionality of the teeth.

There are many different procedures which qualify as a cosmetic dentistry procedure. These may include things like teeth whitening and bleaching, as well as enamel work. Considering not everyone that is born grows perfectly straight teeth, many people visit the dentist in order to realign or even have enamel added or removed from their teeth as a means of making them more even. These all constitute as cosmetic dentistry. While at the same time, general oral care does not.

A person can now go to a dentist and have their teeth bonded with ease. It is even possible in the same exact visit to have veneers added to their teeth all the while they are undergoing a gum lift. All of these possibilities fall under cosmetic dentistry. While many people do not even think about it, cosmetic dentistry has been part of the elective surgery field for an extremely long time, and more cosmetic dentistry procedures are performed on a yearly basis than the combination of almost all of the plastic surgery procedures. This makes cosmetic dentistry one of the most popular forms of elective procedures whose goals and intentions are for the improvements of one’s aesthetics.

For the longest time, the cosmetic dentistry field has used both gold and silver as a means of filling cavities and capping teeth. But in recent times, it has come to an understanding, that the silver used in cosmetic dentistry has a high chance of being diluted with mercury which is not good for anyone. But all of that has changed, while some people still opt for gold, and now platinum caps, many others prefer the porcelain caps which more or less mimic their original teeth giving off the appearance that no work was accomplished at all.
